What’s Best About 400 S Green Street Lofts?
“400 S Green Street Lofts was originally built as a warehouse in 1922 and today offers authentic brick and timber lofts in a convenient West Loop location.”
Let’s take a closer look…
Real lofts with rare features
400 S Green Street, also called Green Street Lofts, was built initially as an industrial warehouse around 1922. Then in the mid-1980’s was converted to 67 residential loft condos.
The building was one of the earliest loft conversions in the West Loop – a real neighborhood trend setter if you will.
These lofts offer all the features you’d expect in a true vintage brick and timber loft conversion plus many welcome surprises.
For instance, here there’s exposed brick, super high timber ceilings (up to 21 ft!), massive timber posts and beams, exposed duct work and really huge warehouse style windows. Plus, here many of the lofts have duplex floor plans adding additional interest.
Moreover, here there’s a wide variety of spacious floor plans each with unique features. For example, many lofts here offer spacious covered terraces. Something rarely found in other West Loop loft buildings.
Convenient location
Green Street Lofts are ideally located in south section of the West Loop. This is a great location for three reasons.
First, green space. With Mary Bartelme Park is just a few blocks north of the building, when you’re ready to get outside it’s super easy. There you’ll find a dog park, a big lawn for lounging and a kid’s playground. Speaking of kids, Green Street Lofts is within the highly-rated Skinner West Elementary School District.
Second, shopping. From here it’s easy. For instance,Target, Mariano’s and Whole foods are only a few blocks away.
Third, entertainment. For example, Greektown just a few blocks east, Chicago’s famous “Restaurant Row” is just to the north as is Fulton Market District.
And finally, from transportation is super convenient. For example, you’ll have easy access to 90/94 and 290. Plus, the UIC-Halsted Blue Line train stop is just a few steps from the building entrance. Moreover, if you work at UIC, this location is hard to beat!
Conclusion
If you’re seeking authentic loft living in a convenient West Loop location this building should be on your list.
