What’s Best About Living In Buena Park?
Living in Buena Park has a special feeling unlike anywhere else in Chicago. Many say Buena Park is a hidden gem and we agree. Like Sheridan Park, Margate Park and Little Vietnam, Buena Park is part of the greater Uptown neighborhood. Even so, it predates Uptown by a number of years.
In the neighborhoods Hutchinson Street Historic District you’ll discover a tree-lined enclave of gorgeous Buena Park homes. Here there’s a wonderful collection of prairie-style mansions. And today these grand mansions stand in the shadows of high rise Buena Park condos that have been built nearby. Those living in Buena Park know this makes for an energetic dynamic.
Here’s a little history. Buena Park was developed beginning in 1887 by Robert A. Waller who subdivided his property into large building lots. The site of the original Waller home now holds St. Mary of the Lake church which was built in 1917.
Transportation here is a breeze. For example, Buena Park can be easily accessed from the Sheridan stop on the CTA’s Red Line. And the neighborhood offers residents easy access to all that nearby Uptown and Lakeview have to offer.
Buena Park is well-located along Lake Michigan just north of Lakeview and is bound by Montrose Avenue, Irving Park Road, Graceland Cemetery and Lake Shore Drive. There are two zip codes in Buena Park – 60613 and 60640.
