What we like is that East Village somehow held onto its heritage while also evolving and becoming known for trendy galleries, theaters, restaurants and bars. For example, here you’ll find more than newly built East Village Chicago condos. The neighbors here have made a strong effort to preserve the vintage brick workers cottages which we love.
Plus living here means its fairly easy to get around town. Public transportation is easy for the most part. For example, here there’s access to the CTA along with plenty of bus routes. In addition, there is easy access to the Kennedy Expressway (I-90). That said, it’s a somewhat more lengthy trip on surface streets to get to the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) for those commuting to the Western suburbs.
East Village Chicago was for many years a somewhat lesser known smaller neighborhood. Located just to the east of Ukrainian Village, East Village was also very popular with Eastern European immigrants. However, East Village has really always had its own unique vibe.
